Things are getting real, real fast!
You’re 11 weeks pregnant and may be feeling something funny going on in your tummy. By this time, you may be able to feel your baby’s hiccups! For some women this is adorable and reassuring, but for some women it may be cute, but uncomfortable. While 11 weeks pregnant,your baby is about the size of a roma tomato. And what a cute little tomato it is. Your baby’s arms and legs are present and practicing their karate chops and kicks. As for you, by the the 11th week of pregnancy point, your pregnancy suddenly feels extremely real. Your body has started to change more and more every day. Most of your pants may no longer fit, and you’ve moved on to jeans with elastic waistbands. Or, perhaps you’ve taken to wearing your stretchy exercise pants as often as possible. Don’t worry – no judgement here!
Speaking of exercise… are you getting any? Low impact exercise at least three times a week is important to both your body and mind. You may find yourself worried about weight gain, and wondering if you will ever have your normal body back again. Between intrusive pregnancy symptoms and decreasing wardrobe options, your head may be spinning. Your baby is growing and your body is following suit, so stop worrying and get moving!Walking is one of the best things you can do for your body. While 11 weeks pregnant, there is no time like the present to put on your sneakers and get out there. Be sure and wear comfortable shoes, ideally athletic shoes with laces, for optimal safety. Skip your walks on days with excessive heat, or icy sidewalks. But do get out when you can. The fresh air and scenery will do you a whole lot of good and may distract you from uncomfortable pregnancy symptoms.
Many yoga studios offer prenatal yoga classes. Taking a class specifically designed for pregnant women is great for a number of reasons. First and foremost, you will be getting regular exercise that will make you feel great, which by the 11th week you could really need a hefty dose of. Another reason is that taking a class just for women in who are pregnant means that the instructor knows exactly what movements are safe and unsafe during pregnancy. If the class is not too large, you will be able to get one-on-one instruction that will challenge you throughout your pregnancy. Maybe the biggest reason for taking prenatal yoga, or any other exercise class geared towards pregnancy, is the other women you will meet. You’ll get to talk to and exercise side-by-side with women who are 11 weeks pregnant, as well as women in all stages of their pregnancies. You’ll swap stories and be able to offer advice and get tips on how to handle pregnancy symptoms, and find out which stores have the best deals on maternity clothes. The breathing exercises, twists and poses in yoga will give you space to center yourself and devote time to taking care of your body. Exercise will lessen your pregnancy symptoms and improve your overall health. Plus, you get to witness the spectacle of a bunch of pregnant ladies all in one room!
Toxins in your home…
One thing to consider now while you are 11 weeks pregnant is what kinds of toxins may be present in your home. Dust, building supplies and household cleaners may not be good for you or your baby. They certainly can’t be doing pregnancy symptoms like nausea any favors either! Go through your home and take a look at everything with these things in mind. If any remodeling is happening in your home, dust from materials may be landing on furniture or blinds and causing you to breathe it in. Even small projects like drilling holes to hang pictures may leave behind dust in the air that you could do without. Cleaning products are definitely something to consider.
Many cleaning products on the market may get the job done, but aren’t necessarily good for a woman who is pregnant to inhale. Those strong lemon or pine odors that once smelled great to you may now be causing those headache and nausea to flare up big time. These days, there are many options when it comes to cleaning products with natural ingredients that are safer you, as well as your baby in and out of utero. Usually these products are available in more natural aromas like lavender or rose petal, but if nausea has been one of the most persistent pregnancy symptoms, you may also find unscented varieties.

By the 11th week of pregnancy, most pregnancy symptoms begin to mellow out. Headaches, nausea and exhaustion are the most common pregnancy symptoms that are most intense in the first trimester. It’s not all great news though. A new set of pregnancy symptoms may crop up in the following weeks. Heartburn is one of the pregnancy symptoms most women find themselves experiencing following the beginning of their pregnancy. Take a look at your diet and see if there are any especially greasy, heavy or spicy foods that could be causing your heartburn.

11 weeks pregnant and at the tail end of your first trimester. Don’t forget to make healthy choices every day and take care of yourself and that baby growing by leaps and bounds each day. Pace yourself! Pregnancy is a marathon, not a race. Before you know it, you will crossing that finish line with a baby in your arms!
